    Troubleshooting AI apps

Fixes for the problems people hit most when connecting an AI app to Pantech.

Find the message you see, then follow the fix.

    The browser did not open

Some apps open the approval page only when you ask them to sign in.

    • Claude: in Settings › Connectors, press Connect on the Pantech connector.
    • ChatGPT: open the connector in Settings › Connectors and connect it. If you don't see Create, turn on developer mode under Advanced.
    • Claude Code: run /mcp, choose pantech, then sign in.
    • Codex: run codex mcp login pantech.
    • Cursor: in Cursor's MCP settings, press Connect next to pantech.
    • VS Code: start the pantech server when VS Code asks.
    • Windsurf: refresh Windsurf's MCP servers.
    • Gemini CLI: restart it. It finds the sign-in on its own on first use.
    • Over SSH or a remote desktop: the browser opens on the machine running the app. Sign in there, or run it locally with a key.

If the browser opened but showed an error and no Allow button, the app sent a bad request. Remove the server from the app, add it again, and try once more.

Set up two-factor authentication to connect AI apps

The approval page asks for this when your account has no second factor. An AI app acts with a key, and creating one needs two-factor authentication. Add an authenticator app on your profile, then connect the app again.

It worked, then started failing with 401

The connection expired (after 7, 30 or 90 days), or someone revoked it. Nothing is wrong with your account.

Reconnect the app: remove the Pantech server and add it again, or use the app's sign-in action above. Approve it again in the browser.

For Grok and local mode, the API key it uses expired or was revoked. Make a new one under Organization › API keys, or run pantech auth login again.

    AI_APPS_DISABLED

AI app access is turned off for this organization. An owner can turn it on in the console under Organization › AI apps.

An owner turned AI apps off. Every AI app, and the Pantech MCP server even with a normal key, is refused until it is turned back on. Ask an owner of the organization. What it does.

    INSUFFICIENT_SCOPE

This AI app was connected without permission to delete. Reconnect it with "Manage and delete" access, or do this in the console.

The app's access level does not cover what you asked. A Read only app cannot change anything; a Manage app cannot delete, or rebuild or restore a machine.

    • Do it yourself in the console or CLI, or
    • Reconnect the app with a higher level. Access levels.

    Too many requests (429)

The app sent requests faster than its limit allows. The error says how long to wait. Wait that long, then ask again. Asking for fewer things at once helps, for example "list my machines" instead of one machine at a time.

The app says a confirmation expired

Tools that spend money, open access or delete ask first. The confirmation token in the preview lasts 5 minutes and works only for that exact request. If it has expired, or the app changed any detail, nothing is done. Ask the app to start again, check the new preview, then say yes.

The local server will not start

    • pantech-mcp: command not found: install pantech-mcp, and make sure it is on your PATH. pantech mcp status tells you if it is found.
    • No key found: run pantech auth login, or set PANTECH_API_KEY.
    • Wrong organization: set PANTECH_PROFILE to the CLI profile you want.

    Still stuck

Every error from Pantech includes a request_id. Open a support ticket and include it.
